Parasocial Interaction

 Parasocial Interaction is a psychological relationship experienced by an audience in their encounters with mass media, Viewers or listeners come to consider media personalities as friends, despite having no or limited interactions with them. for example  if  you feel like you're one of the gang while watching the characters from Friends spend time together at the Central Perk.

End of audience theory

Clay Shirky argues  that audiences in today’s online age are no longer passive consumers of media content.  How far is this true of online audiences ? An  active audience  engages, interprets and responds to a media text in different ways and is capable of challenging the ideas encoded in it.   A  passive audience  is more likely to accept the messages encoded in a media text without challenge and are therefore more likely to be directly affected by the messages. Zoella- Audience

  Who are Zoella's target audience? Zoella's audience will consist of 13-24 year olds, who are BC1C2 (youthful, energetic, associated with advertising and getting money off), this is because there is moderate formal language Also Zoella's house represents an ideal youthful environment This audience groups is to be associated with more lucrative advertising tie-ins How might the audience interact and participate? On Youtube there are various forms of interaction, for example, the comments section This is a moderated area of conversation on Zoella's channel, in this section the audience can leave a positive comment Also, the audience can vote on polls that are left on the video, this can give a sense of influence on the upcoming videos/content The audience are able to interact with Zoella through her Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and email. End of Audience Theory and Attitude

There is no comment box, no one can leave feedback or engage as well as Zoella  relates to the age of the demographic, less likely to be online more inclined to be passive attitude isn't interactive therefore it has more of a passive audience, attitude subverts End of Audience theory as most of the audience are passive and don't create their own content or contribute to the content produce.  social media- attitude has Facebook, twitter and instagram where you can message them or comment on their posts. allows some interaction but only basic
