  What are  the main differences between a mainstream and an independent film ?  Independent films normally have a niche older active audience compared to mainstream films which would have a large younger passive audience. The genre of Mainstream movies is practically always Action, superheroes or sci-fi, this is because big budget movies with amazing actions scenes and good CGI scenes tend to grab the attention of their target audience which is normally young people. Independent films are usually dramas or sometimes even have an unclear genre, most of the time this also entices the target audience, Independent films often have downbeat ambiguous endings whereas mainstream films tend to have upbeat, resolved and positive endings, this is normally because mainstream films have a passive audience.     Analyse the representation of gender in the music videos for   "The Man "  by Taylor Swift and   "Riptide "  by Vance Joy  The man and Riptide focus on different representations of women. The man often sexualises women and focuses on the idea that women are easily impressed by men. In the start of the video when Swifts character is walking through the office we see the women in the background fighting over a scrunched up piece of paper he has thrown into the air, this shows that women are easily impressed by men who are attractive or powerful.   Explore how  gender  is  represented  in at least two examples from the media Women are often represented as housewives or mothers and sex objects, women are often seen as inferior to men. The Crown subverts these stereotypes through their print poster as the Queen is in the front and dominating the poster, she is in the foreground of the poster showing the audience she is more powerful than the men. Olivia Coleman's facial expression is very stern and serious showing that she is not as emotional and caring as a stereotypical woman, her costume however, reinforces stereotypes as she is wearing a dress and a crown and these are very feminine itms of clothing.
